Think great cocktails are only possible at a bar? Think again. These three easy vodka cocktails from The Temple Bar menu are totally doable at home, no professional training required, just good ingredients and a cocktail shaker. Here’s exactly how to make them.
Vanilla Espresso Martini
The holy trinity of a great night out: coffee, vodka, and something a little indulgent. Here’s how to nail it at home.
You’ll need:
- 50ml premium vodka
- 25ml Absolut Vanilla
- 25ml Kahlua
- A fresh shot of espresso, cooled slightly
Add everything to a shaker packed with ice and shake hard, really hard, for at least 15 seconds. The vigorous shake is what creates that signature frothy top. Double strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with three coffee beans. The key is using freshly brewed espresso rather than instant; it makes all the difference to both the flavour and the foam.
Porn Star Martini
A modern classic that looks impressive and tastes even better. Don’t be put off by the ingredient list, it comes together in minutes.
You’ll need:
- 50ml vanilla vodka
- 25ml passionfruit puree
- 15ml lemon juice
- 15ml sugar syrup
- Half an egg white
Combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice first and give it a dry shake for about 10 seconds, this builds the foam from the egg white. Then add ice and shake again until well chilled. Strain into a coupe or martini glass. Traditionally served with a small shot of prosecco on the side, which you either sip between drinks or tip straight in. Both are correct.
Irish Sea
The most visually striking of the three, and deceptively simple to put together. That vivid blue-green colour comes from the Blue Curacao, so don’t skip it.
You’ll need:
- 50ml premium vodka
- 20ml Blue Curacao
- Juice of half a lemon
- 15ml sugar syrup
- Lemonade to top
- Orange wheel to garnish
Build over ice in a highball glass, vodka, Blue Curacao, lemon juice, and sugar syrup first, then top gently with lemonade to keep the fizz. Give it one slow stir, drop in an orange wheel, and serve. It’s light, citrusy, and surprisingly easy to drink a second one of.
